WHO WE ARE:
Wiley's Road Home is a volunteer foster-based 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization based in north Arkansas.
Wiley's was formed by a group of friends who saw a desperate need in our community and wanted to assist with the immense pet overpopulation in the area. We are committed to helping individuals and shelters when they are overburdened. We vet, fix, and transport dogs to the east coast, where they find loving and happy homes. Most even have families before they even set foot in Rhode Island!
We have dedicated volunteers and fosters who believe that no animal should suffer the sadness of being homeless and that every puppy deserves a chance to grow up wanted in a loving home.
WILEY'S STORY:
Wiley was a 7-week-old, black, Border Collie mix puppy who lived in the shelter until he was 1.5 years old at the time he was chosen to go to Rhode Island. Wiley had been in a local shelter for 503 days by that time. He was scheduled to go on transport to Rhode Island a couple of different times, but due to stress he had a flare up of a pre-existing skin condition and had to stay behind, watching as his brothers and sisters left to go to Rhode Island to be with their forever families. During that time, Wiley remained one of the happiest, most loving dogs you could ever find. He loved to play with toys and run in the yard. In June of 2019, Wiley was finally able to travel to Rhode Island. He spent a couple of super fun weeks in a great foster home and went on to find an amazing forever home. After around 2 weeks in his new forever home, Wiley's family noticed some changes in him; he was limping, he seemed more tired, and at times a little cranky (which was very uncharacteristic for Wiley). During vet visits and testing, it was discovered Wiley had terminal osteosarcoma and very soon after crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. In honor of Wiley, we work to ensure that as many dogs as possible get the opportunity to find their forever families as quickly as possible. We believe that every puppy deserves to grow up feeling wanted in a loving home!
